First, a little background: my nails are very tiny, and I tend to keep them short. After over a decade of piano-playing, I just feel strange with long nails. I've only been to the manicurist twice in my lifetime. Both were pleasant experiences, but I just don't have a strong desire to perfect my nails and cuticles. Also, I have never used artificial nails before.
So, on to the review! By the way, the packets I received were all medium-length. The one I have on in the photos is the left-most design show above. It's called "Stella."
Here are my nails right after application. (Sorry for the schizophrenic lighting - I can't seem to the capture the criss-cross designs very well.)
Whoa ugly! xD Although they look OK in these photos, my fingers looked very strange in person. I put on the smallest nails I could find in the packet, and still they were a bit too long/big for my fingers. But the great thing is I can use the nail file that came along with the product, and file it down to the desired length and shape.
General tips:
--Be careful with the glue! You might accidentally glue your skin onto the nail - so make sure to wipe away excess glue with the stick they provided.
--Coat both your nail and the fake nail with glue. Wait a few seconds for the glue to get tacky, then press on the nail.
--Press it on completely, otherwise if you wash your hands, water can get in between!
--Wait a while before doing house chores! Not that I do those anyway. xD
Positives:
--Very easy! I was able to complete all my fingers in under 10 minutes.
--Makes my cuticles look great (well, it covers them completely, haha!)
--Looks quite natural if done with care, and the overall effect is very pretty.
Negatives:
--Comes off fast! My pinky nail came off the morning after, while I was blow-drying my hair. :-/
--It can get messy with the glue.
--Difficult to find a perfect match if you have uniquely-sized nails. ;)
Overall, this gets a 5/5 if you are using it for a special occasion or night out. For long term usage, this gets a 1/5 - it simply doesn't last very long.
And finally, congratulations to Lisa at Shop N' Chomp on her 1-year blog-iversary! She's offering some great prizes in her giveaway! Notice the Revlon nail packs! ;)
The holidays are fast approaching and there are a bountiful number of giveaways from generous bloggers! Does this mean I should have one of my own? xD
