Review: A few things from MAC Cosmetics!

I'm not generally excited about MAC products, what with their 50209842903 collections per season. Their packaging is so basic it's painful - a black, light-weight plastic. I think some drugstore makeup lines have more exciting designs, honestly. Well anyway, it's the inside that counts... right?

One thing I do really admire about MAC is their loyal fan base. I don't know of any other brand that literally has a whole sub-culture associated with it! It's like a cult! ;)

Despite my ho-hum attitude towards MAC, I have managed to accumulate a few of their basic items, which I will briefly review today. I only own 5 things, so this shouldn't take long, LOL.

266 Angled Eyeliner Brush  rating: 1/5
Purchased this at a MAC store - what a waste of money. After a few weeks of use, I noticed the numbers/letters on the handle start to fade. So, as many YouTube gurus suggested, I painted clear nail polish over them to help preserve the label. Boy that was a mistake - the entire piece of wood that contained the label, peeled off! I did the same nail polish technique to my other brushes - no problems!
The 1 point is for the actual brush head - it's stiff, and does what it's supposed to. Anyways, I've since "lost" this brush somewhere... oh well! xD

Fluidline in Dipdown  rating: 2/5
Mine's already cracked. Still fairly creamy and pigmented... but gives me raccoon eyes! Staying power is better if I use a faint layer, but then what's the point?!

Emote Blush  rating: 3/5
As a contour this is rather mediocre. I must have a lot of pink tones in my skin, because under natural lighting, this shows up reddish on me. Good lasting power though.

Duo Eyebrow Powder  rating: 4.5/5
The only thing I'm use everyday from MAC. The brow shade is a perfect gray to match my black hair. The beige shade is chalky.

Pigment in Gold Mode  rating: 5/5
I got this pigment sample from Claire/Eclecticism - thank you! :) LOVE this - it's absolutely beautiful!!! A perfect peachy gold. If only it wasn't in pigment form.

Anyway that's it! I'll probably try other things from MAC - maybe another blush or eyeshadow. But honestly their packaging is SO off-putting! xD

What are your favorite items from MAC?

haha thanks for the review, that sucks about that angled eyeliner brush! i have yet to try one, I always imagined it to be easier to use gel liner that way. I've heard good things about emote blush, but couldn't find it anywhere :T I never really got into MAC until the Hello Kitty collection, and being a HK fan, I had to get a few items. Sadly I think they are just being collectable items more than me actually using them on a day to day basis, but that's okay. The one MAC product I am really loving right now is the ever hip lip stick I put up in my March Favorite, just because I found it to be a perfect shade for me right now. I've recently noticed my MAC collection grew a little bit, but I think that also has to do with me been shopping a bit too much lately lol.

LOL...it is a cult! I'm kinda guilty b/c I lurve their lipglosses. XD Of the stuff you listed, I've only tried Fluidline which didn't work for me either.

No worries love! :) Maybe you could try getting their Holiday palettes. They always come up with some e/s palette with nice packaging. :)

I got confused with the rating and the order but it seemed like you were ordering them according to rank, and it seemed clearer when I saw 4.5/5 hahaha Wow, only 5 items from MAC! Aww, do give them a chance. MAC has been around for a while, they're constantly making new ideas with their new collections, which is what companies do. That's what every business does, make new ideas. And they're ok affordable. Some of their items are pretty good. I don't mind packaging, I just find it a plus if it's nice (like Jill Stuart), but what I'm paying for is the product. I like the basic design of MAC's packaging, it's minimalistic. SUQQ's design seemed to be the same way, being sleek and simple as well. Ah, I dunno, I'm rambling. x3

O no. I'm sorry you didn't like the fluidline. :(

Blacktrack fluidline is my goto eyeliner for the lash line I use every day. Some other favorites I use daily are- Sunny by Nature MSF (for warmth), Perfect topping MSF (highlight) and Studio Sculpt foundation. Lippie-wise, my fav is Viva Glam V! :)

Hi! Good reviews :) I don't own any of the products you have, except for a fluidline but in Blacktrack. I really like it and don't have problems with it luckily.

hahaha LOL yeah.... MAC... sigh..... me too. I don't particularly love this brand. I heard from my aunt that Mac contains a high concentration of lead in their cosmetics which will make the skin darker. SO now I'm kinda scared of using their items. I used to have more MAC items but decided to sell them, so now I only have 3 things. :) One of them is my first blush~ :)
